What Our NIFT Online Classes Cover, Stage by Stage
CAT — Creative Ability Test (100 marks, 3 hrs)
Paper-based drawing test: observation, visualization, idea development, colour sense and illustration through 2–3 open-ended questions. Our build-up sequence: line quality → perspective and everyday objects → human figures → colour theory → visual storytelling → full timed CAT simulations on actual past questions.
GAT — General Ability Test (100 Q, CBT)
Five areas with concept classes + weekly timed sectionals: quantitative ability, communication & English comprehension, analytical & logical ability, GK & current affairs (tilted to design, fashion and textiles), and case study questions.
Situation Test — the stage most aspirants underprepare
Shortlisted B.Des candidates build a 3D model within a time limit and write a concept note. Online, we practice live on camera with a materials list — students complete 10+ full simulations before the real thing.

Frequently Asked Questions
Yes — the GAT is a computer-based test anyway, so online CBT mocks replicate real conditions exactly, and CAT drawing skills improve through corrected practice, which works over video as effectively as across a desk when batches are small. Our online batches are capped at 6–8 students with individual feedback on every sheet, and they produce selections alongside our classroom batches every year.
Alumni of NIFT Delhi, NIFT Mumbai, NID and IIT who cleared design entrances with top All India Ranks. The founders teach; we do not outsource batches to freelance or rotating faculty.
₹25,000–30,000 for the 3–4 month crash course, ₹45,000–50,000 for the one-year program, and ₹60,000–65,000 for the two-year foundation — identical to our classroom fees, with a 10% early-enrolment discount. Each course also covers NID and UCEED preparation at no extra cost.
The exam is expected in February 2027 with registration from December 2026. Starting mid-2026 gives a comfortable runway to build CAT skills gradually; our crash course serves late starters from around October onwards. Class 11 students targeting NIFT 2028 should take the two-year route — creative skill compounds, and early starters consistently outrank equally talented late starters.
You get a materials list before each practice session, build the model live on camera within official time limits, and your mentor evaluates your material handling, composition, finish and concept note. Our students complete 10+ timed simulations before the actual test — most aspirants nationwide walk in having done zero.
Only in the GAT: −0.25 marks per wrong answer on objective questions. CAT and the Situation Test carry no negative marking. Attempt strategy for GAT is a dedicated module in our course because careless guessing is one of the most common rank-killers.
Yes — B.Des and all design programmes accept Class 12 students from any stream. Only B.FTech requires Mathematics in Class 12. There is also no limit on the number of NIFT attempts, though UG applicants must be under 24 years on 1 August of the admission year.
Both test creativity, but NIFT (conducted by NTA) balances a drawing-based CAT with an aptitude-heavy GAT covering English, maths, reasoning and GK, followed by a Situation Test. NID DAT leans more heavily on design aptitude and observation across its Prelims and Mains studio stages. Their foundations overlap enough that our single program prepares you for both.
