A strong portfolio is a guided tour through how you think. Pretty final boards without process rarely convince reviewers who see hundreds of submissions.

What to Include

  • 2–4 projects with clear problem statements
  • Process evidence: sketches, iterations, discarded options
  • Your role and constraints
  • A short reflection on what you learned

Project Narrative Structure

  1. Context and user/problem
  2. Research or observation notes
  3. Ideation range
  4. Development decisions
  5. Final outcome and limitations
Honesty check

Do not over-claim tools, teamwork or impact. Clarity and ownership read as confidence.

Presentation Basics

Keep layouts calm. Use readable type. Crop images intentionally. Avoid decorative noise that competes with the work. If you include entrance-exam sheets, label them as such and show thinking, not only finish.

Common Portfolio Mistakes

  • Too many unfinished sparks, no developed projects
  • Only finals, no process
  • Inconsistent storytelling across pages
  • Copying template aesthetics without content strength

Update the portfolio every few weeks with better process pages rather than waiting for a “perfect” project that never arrives.
